Kaomoji

What is "Kaomoji" ??

Have you ever seen those sequence of symbols ?

They are "Kaomoji".

We use them when we type Emails or comments on internet or somewhere.

They are used to show facial expressions in the same way as an "Emoji".

Actually we don't very often use them now but I still see this (below) "Kaomoji" a lot.

m(_ _)m <(_ _)>

They show bowing or apologising.

I often see 「:D」or「;)」or「:P」in English speaking cultures.

I've heard that in English-speaking countries, people express their emotions with the shape of their mouths, while in Japan, people express their emotions with their eyes. I think this is also reflected in :D and (^_^).
